




Organization, Membership, Terms:
Beginning with the year 2008, the UFTVC shall consist of seven (7) permanent members and distinguished members appointed by the Township Committee of Upper Freehold Township. All members shall be residents of the Township of Upper Freehold. Any vacancies shall be filled by a majority vote of the UFT Township Committee.
The officers of the Council shall consist of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Secretary-Treasurer. The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson shall have served honorably in the United States Military, as indicated the certificate DD-214, or other acceptable United States Military documents. The Chairperson shall keep the Township Committee informed of the names and addresses of all officers and members

Duties and Services
The UFTVC is being created to identify and recognize the men and women of UFT have served and are currently serving in the military in foreign wars and conflicts and theaters of operation, and to provide assistance when available to those Vets and their families.
The UFTVC is tasked at creating voluntary service, when available, for the following:
Identify all Upper Freehold Township residents that are veterans and create a directory with information to recognize them and provide assistance if necessary and available;
Assistance for veterans and dependents with questions and inquiries on available benefits and programs.
Provide veterans with assistance with medical appointments and other necessities.
Provide veterans with reasonable food shopping services (necessities).
Provide veterans with pharmaceutical retrieval services.
Ensure the proper display of flags at the Memorial on days required by State and/or Federal law.
Oversee ceremonies appropriately recognizing military veterans prior to deployment and upon returning home from deployment.
Advise the Township Committee, through the Chairperson, of important information related to the Veterans' Memorial, and deploying and returning those Upper Freehold township residents returning from deployments, and the activities of the Council.
Petition the UFT committee to parcel an area of land within UFT that will remain undisturbed for a "Memorial Garden."
The Memorial Garden will be a public and charitable donations funded non-commercial area of land. The size of the land needed will be determined by the UFTVC with approval of the Township Committee.
The Memorial Garden will be designed and constructed by volunteers of the community but maintained by UFT citizen volunteer resources. A memorial plaque will be erected but no names of any committee member (political or on the UFTVC) will be inscribed.
The Memorial Garden will be a simple place of reflection enclosed by natural borders (trees/ bushes) and have the appropriate public access.
The Memorial Garden may consist of a memorial stone structure, stone benches, fountain and memorial plaques of each war, police action or conflict America has engaged in as authorized by Congress.
The UFTVC will schedule meetings at their discretion and will not be subject to the Open Public Meetings Act.
Composition of the Veteran’s Council:
A liaison from the Township Committee will be appointed annually.

All Upper Freehold Township residents that are Veterans of the Korean War and World War II will be considered honorary distinguished members with a non-voting position.
Bruce Novozinsky and William E. Miscoski will serve as Co-chairmen during their terms of appointment. The members of the UFTVC will, by majority vote, choose one of its members as the secretary of the UFTVC.
