Public meeting scheduled on
Allentown Dam, bridge
Two alternatives to be presented
on March 18
FREEHOLD – A public meeting has been scheduled later this month to
present project needs and reconstruction alternatives for the
reconstruction of the Allentown Dam and the county bridge U-12,
which carries Route 524, or Main Street, over Doctor’s Creek in
Allentown.
The presentation will include exhibits of deficiencies of the dam
and the bridge and the proposed reconstruction with two alternatives
for maintenance and protection of traffic. The alternatives include:
closing Main Street and providing a detour route, or maintaining
traffic on Main Street with a temporary road and structure.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. March 18 at the Allentown High
School auditorium, 27 High St., Allentown.
The meeting is being conducted to inform project stakeholders
including the general public, the governing bodies of Allentown and
Upper Freehold Township, emergency service providers, the U.S.
Postal Service and the Board of Education.
The public is invited to attend and encouraged to comment on the
project.
